Pauliina Fred

Pauliina Fred studied flute at the Sibelius-Academy and the Utrecht and Amsterdam Conservatories. She has specialized in historical  flutes  and various types of renaissance recorders as well as the C flute of the Romantic Era. Pauliina Fred regularly plays with the Helsinki Baroque Orchestra, the Finnish Baroque Orchestra and the Norwegian Baroque Orchestra. She is also a member of the Bravade Recorder Quartet, the Zetes Wind Quintet, the Bellman Trio and the SAMA Folk Baroque Ensemble.

Pauliina Fred has performed as soloist, chamber and orchestra musician not only in Finland, but also in Japan, South Korea, Norway and in the USA. She has recorded for the labels Naxos, Aeolus, Pilfink and BIS. In 2010, she launched the Café Barock series in Helsinki and continued to be the artistic director for the series 2010-2012. Her concept then spread to other cities in Finland as well. She has planned and performed more than 400 childrens concerts in Finland and Norway and has with enthusiasm worked with the ensemble Amore Classico, which gives elderly amateur musicians a chance to play together. Pauliina Fred is teaching baroque flute and chamber music at the Metropolia University in Helsinki.
